Servicing Old Ottawa South + area

Where do you service? Old Ottawa South is Heathers primary service area and nearby i.e. The Glebe, Centretown, etc. (Heather tries her best to accommodate. Please ask if she can service your neighborhood if it is within close proximity to the above mentioned)

How does it work in my home, What to expect?
Upon meeting your dog, Heather takes the time to let him/her feel reassured and settle as she enters your home. While getting getting acquainted with them, she will assess the condition of your pets fur/hair, skin, ears, teeth and nails and ask questions about their health and discuss your expectations regarding haircut preferences.

A bright and quiet area in your home is chosen to set up portable tools/supplies and grooming table. You are welcome to watch the entire process. It is very important you don’t leave the room and return frequently as this can be very distracting for your dog as he/she may get very excited. ***Heather has a safety policy in place. It is very important that your dog focuses 100% with Heather while she works with him/her on the grooming table and asks for calm cooperation for safety and to achieve the best quality haircut.

Heathers goal is to keep the stress level as low as possible for your dog and to provide a positive, comfortable experience for him/her. A cleansing hand massaged bath is done in your kitchen sink, utility sink or bathtub.

It's a surprisingly clean process
Heather is responsible for entire clean up, and grooming is surprisingly clean. Since your dog enjoys his relaxing bath first, and then fluff dried before his haircut, there are no trimmings blown throughout your home. All trimmed hair/fur is collected as it gently falls onto the grooming table, bagged and then later composted. Heather meticulously vacuums the work space used in your home.

How long does it take?
For most dogs that are well adjusted to their regular 5-7 week scheduled appointments and their coat is well maintained and matt free, you can expect your dog to be relaxing happily on his favorite sofa within a couple hours! Dogs who have behavior concerns or matted coat conditions will take more time to complete the groom safely.

Can you groom my dog while I'm not home?

Absolutely! With Heathers latchkey service, your dog will never miss his regular healthy grooming essentials due to your busy lifestyle and lack of precious time. Latchkey service is most popular and is available after the first appointment and a general assessment. It is important that we all have the opportunity to meet, ask questions, discuss any areas of the grooming process that your dog may have had some difficulty with. If your dog is comfortable and well adjusted to being groomed, touched all over with vibrating clippers and carefully handled, we can talk about next steps towards arranging the most convenient latchkey service.

Your dog will be sporting an updated trim, smelling fresh, and ready to be snuggled when you get home from your busy day!
Do you need parking to provide service? A guaranteed parking spot is required for Heather to service you and to park for the duration of the grooming session. She has equipment that is heavy and must be able to unload at your immediate entrance, efficiently & easily.
